Um....

Or rather a story in the late, late, late, late evening/morning in the end of July! Well...I actually sort of forgot the story I was going to tell you. (eventureman rolls eyes) But I do have an article I'd like to post. Its called "A Sister Of Many" its based on one particular many thing sister who happens to be a Founder, Vicar General, Vocation Director, And a Former Dominican Sister of Saint Cecilia Congregation:
A Sister of Many
By Amanda Therese

What would it be like if you knew one person who was a Founder, Vicar General, Vocation Director, and a Former Religious Sister of Saint Cecilia Congregation in Nashville, living in a newly established eight year old growing community called the Dominican Sisters of Mary Mother of the Eucharist? Here to answer that question is a Dominic Devoter.

Hey everyone!

Every time I turn the corner of my computer to a site, the first calling I get is the Dominican’s Order of Preachers founded by Saint Dominic de Guzman, patron of Astronomers. And usually that site ends up being a community who talks more about Mary then about their founder: the Sisters of Mary Mother of the Eucharist.

When I had first heard of the Sisters of Mary I was already setting my heart on one particular community in Summit, New Jersey but the overflow of my loving to do the Rosary made me have second thoughts. Though God made it thoroughly clear that I was to join the Dominican’s somewhere, the problem was “where now”?

On this very same day the Holy Spirit filled me and inspired me to look into this community in Michigan. So, I did just that. I loved it! They were so active, in community and out, and their apostolate of teaching was a beautiful sight to see! So what did I do? I requested information.

To get to the point of my letter, after receiving the information –newsletter and retreat flyer and a brochure- I was glued to the community, reading my favorite articles from “All Hail the Dominican Court!” “Playing Hard Ball” “From the Sublime…. To the Ridiculous….” To “Michigan Tornado Blows in Ninety-Seven” and “Workmen Give Thumbs Up!” –over and over again- I had to see these sisters somehow! And my chance came on the Wednesday after my birthday, when a postulant had a reception at my parish.

Whoa! Hang on a minute; I almost forgot whom this letter is about!

Another future BIG Sister, Sister Joseph Andrew! It doesn’t get any better then this. Well…actually it can. I’ve had the awesome pleasure of talking to sister and I’ve never known anyone like her. She’s wise, funny, and amazing on the inside! She has this great accent when she talks, its one of my favorite traits about her, but my most favorite of all is how in ever typed/said word, she expresses each with endless love. Which the world is missing today, they’re missing the fact that there are people out there who care.

And Sister Joseph Andrew is one those. Now, at first thoughts when I found out about Sister Joseph was “Wow!!! I’m talking to a founder!” (Out of four) or “Whoa! The Vicar General, sweet!” and “Ah! Saint Cecilia Congregation!” (In a gleaming way) But then I realized I sort of seemed like I was over reacting, though I’m sure they would have been compliments to Sister Joseph.

By exiting out the facts and just looking at her, dawning that veil, and wearing the holy habit of Saint Dominic, you already knew she was a leader, and its not because of what she is or what she does or how she lives, its because of her golden heart on the inside.

I am very thankful for having Sister Joseph Andrew in my life and that she may always know I will be at her side (not exactly sticking like Velcro), and that she is in a place in my heart and definitely in my prayers.

This letter is dedicated to another future BIG sister, who is a Dominican Sister of Mary Mother of the Eucharist in Ann Arbor, Michigan, visit their website at:
www.sistersofmary.org I urge you to check their community out. And may the Lord bless Sister Joseph Andrew and the sisters; “In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.”
