O, Come...let us play! O, Come...God's children, let us play with His Son.
Advent...ah, yes...one of the more beautiful times of the year, and if I may say so myself the one of the more colder times of the year, but let His breath and Word be your warmth! I too was stunned by Pastor Father Dennis Zehren's homily, it was one of those knock-you-off-your-feet talks, not lectures! There is no lecture when it comes to Christ! There is no lecture when it comes to Advent! THERE IS preparation. Are we prepared for the day of that infant child's birth, the infant child who later died on the cross FOR US, are we prepared to spread the meaning of Christmas the TRUE meaning of Christmas, not presents, not gifts, not "Guess what I got for Christmas!" Now, I am sorry if I sound like your local pastor around the corner, but its a habit, "not all habits are bad!"
I lay down to you, the meaning of Advent. You can be the poorest of the poor and still be joyful on this day, because the presents you receive isnt the center of happiness. You get bored with it in two weeks, maybe some of you in two days...there is a better way to serve the Greater Glory of God.
Father Zehern told us in his homily (other then the upside down Christmas tree) That we need to prepare for this day, to prepare our hearts to bring our current life to an end and start upside down. I'm not sure how many of you find that confusing I mean I cant get a clear picture when I stand on my head and look at the people walking on the ceiling...
Spend every SPARE time -not with video games, not with tv, not with those un-nesscities- but in prayer, sacraments, obedience, virtues of all kinds, there is no half-heart, there is no hard heart, this time its time to SOFTEN let the LOVE of GOD soften your heart into purity and understanding, and truth!
So as the reality year comes to an end of 2005 - and the liturgical year comes to a start, let us ALL go out with a bang..................to God.
