Praised be the Lord now and forever!
We are once again gathered here today - on all of the days, my personal favorite day in the year. The Feast Day of Our Holy Father Saint Dominic. And as you very well know he was the one that sort of unexpectedly founded the Order of Preachers, popualarly known as the Dominicans. It really wasnt on his list, but you all know how funny God can be sometimes.
The thing that occurs to me about Saint Dominic is that no matter what the problem, or cause and after effects happened, he did everything out of Love for God. Its just extrodinary - I mean at that time was a century full of heretics, killings, lies, a big blind fold that covered up the Truth except for those who know already Truth God.
How many times a day do we wake up and be put to work right away? Or are tired and dont want to do what we are told? Those little things....like sweeping, mopping, vacuming, or cleaning the glass - and theres more work after. It happens to all of us, happened to me for the past two weeks, garage sales, moving things out, carrying boxes, feeding the cat, moving my grandma in - cleaning house top to bottom, the moment I woke up. There are very few people in this world that I can picture preaching day to day barefoot or wearing sandals, and taking directions from a heretic smiling while in pain going through the thorn bush! Personally I dont know how Dominic did it - but what I do know is that everyday of his life did not go to waste, everyday he did everything covered in love. He loved so much - so much more then you or I could even hope to love. We can certainly try - My family what has happened to love today? I'll tell you what has happened to love. Its been blinded! Misued! Stolen from its TRUE meaning! Scriptrue says in 1 Corinthians 13: 13 "There are three things that remain, faith, hope, and love and the greatest of these is love." So true! But in reality - we have misused that great love - we have stolen the true meaning of love when married couples get divorced and say it was a waste. And so many times in turn do we individually feel unloved. GOD is love and HE does love us and will continue to love even if we are in a bad situation and fail. God taught us to love each other, and thats what Saint Dominic did to 110% capacity in his life. He loved everything and everyone - even the heretics. So many times do we unlove our enemies from being hurt by them. My family, let us pray to God the Father our papa and turn to Him in despair with our tears and ask Him to help us love like Him, and not to just love Him more, but to love each other and our enemies:
Great Saint Dominic
You labored for the
Salvation of others by
Preaching the Word of God
In Dangerous times
Even among the heretics
Inspire me to be like you
Let me be strong in my faith
Help me to provide for the needs
Of the children of this world
Lead me to spend my days
As a reflection of Christ's love
Throughout my life
Give me the right words
To always speak the truth
With a zeal for saving souls
Amen
