Soo...I'm sure you're interested in knowing what ^ that subject is about. Lets see, to start us off I went to the Little Sisters of the Poor (THEY WEAR HABITS!!! Woohoo!) A community of "poor" (wonderful) nuns here in Saint Paul Minnesota, who have a fourth vow: Poverty Chastity Obedience, and (drum roll please!) Hospitality! They support themselves through a group of two people (one being the humorous Sister Michael) By collecting, are given donations, and unfortunately charity (which is a form of a word I would not like to use, thank you.) Their apostolate is taking care of the Elderly Poor. Just as Our Lady of the Rosary monastery's apostolate is pretty much prayer, which if you want to know is really over 80% of me. Hehehe...
I got invited by the 1st year Novice, Sister Carolyn Martin, Youth Volunteer Coordinator, and runs the teenage girls Hospitality Club. (Oh by the way if you are interested in the Hospitality Club, please let me know, and I can get you set up with Sister Carolyn.) And a compliment out to her if I please, for a 1st year Novice you know ALOT!!!! Okay, now back to the subject. My newly, new Sister (in law) and I stood aside next to one of the many statues of Mary after joining the 11 sisters in Chapel for evening prayer which ended at 6:30PM I think.
Sister Carolyn looked at us and said, "Wait! Hang on a minute don't go." And rushed back into the Chapel, then she came out again, quickly beckoned me over, went back into the Chapel, and like a double door entry (due to the handicap button) A "new" nun came out followed by Sister Carolyn. Now this nun was majorly a nun, nun, she had a soft serious, but somehow sweet look on her face, she stood tall, and had her hands together, and this is what happened, read on: "Amanda? I'd like you to meet Mother Superior." (At this point I was nervous as heck!) I shook her hand, (I actually felt like half-bowing, but I didn't ha---ha.) She asked, "How do you do?" I replied (as usual) "Good, how do you do Mother?" And so, I have never, ever, ever seen a nun sooo excited about "fetching" the Mother Superior in my entire life, of course....I have never been around a community full of nuns or in a convent so to speak I've only talked/emailed/letters to them and tiny gifts.
